Message below was sent on March 16, 2020 via email to Montgomery Blair High School Families.

Hello Montgomery Blair High School Families,

As you are aware, due to the coronavirus pandemic, all Maryland public schools will be closed through Friday, March 27.  As a result, Montgomery Blair High School  is closed, and students, staff and visitors will not have access to the building for any reason.  All events and extracurricular activities, including athletic practices, are also cancelled during this time period.

*Meals Available on Weekdays During School Closure Breakfast and lunch meals are available for to pick up between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, while schools are closed.  No appointment is necessary.  Meals will be provided in a grab-and-go format for ALL MCPS students in the school’s parking lot by the SAC/Cafeteria.

*School System and Community Resources MCPS has also prepared a list of school system and community resources for families during this extended school closure.  The resources are listed here (School System and Community Resources),

https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/Coronavirus/COVID-19_School_System_and_Community_Resources%20(002).pdf.  Among other resources, it includes information on food assistance as well as mental and emotional health and support.

*Instructional Activities Available During School Closure MCPS is committed to providing families with activities and materials to support learning during the extended school closure. Learning activities and materials are available online through myMCPS Classroom and here, https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/contingency/.  These activities are meant for review and to practice information that has already been taught, and are designed to span the timeframe of our school closure.  Please note that printed packets are intended only for students without online access at home, and can be picked up at Blair from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the our lunch distribution site.  Students taking AP courses can access resources for their specific AP courses by logging into their College Board AP accounts (https://apstudents.collegeboard.org).    All the activities that we have provided (digital and print) are meant for review and to practice information that has already been taught. Again, these activities are not required, and will not be graded.

We know that many of our families do not have access to the internet at home. Comcast has announced that effective Monday, March 16, new Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service. You can learn more about this offer at https://www.internetessentials.com/covid19

Additional information on county food assistance, mental and emotional health support, and medical assistance can be found here and on the MCPS coronavirus webpage.

*MCPS College Fair Cancelled The MCPS College Fair, scheduled for March 31, has also been cancelled.

* FREE SAT Administration for Juniors: Tuesday, April 14 All 11th grade students were originally scheduled to take the SAT without the optional essay, free of charge, on Wednesday, March 25.  Due to the school closure, the SAT will now be administered to all 11th grade students on Tuesday, April 14.
