Poetry Workshop With Poets Cherrie Woods and Alan King (Enoch Pratt Free Library) – VIRTUAL

May 22, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Though self-publishing and book promotion are becoming common, poetry remains a niche market. Even bookstores will typically just sell acknowledged classics, academic anthologies, and a few books by today’s most famous poets. How does a poet become successful and increase book sales since poetry has its own unique nuances and requirements for promotion. Cherrie Woods (book publicist/self-published poet) along with Alan King (traditionally published poet) will share strategies for promoting your poetry project.

Registration required. Click here to register through Eventbrite.

He’s the author of DRIFT, POINT BLANK, and his forthcoming chapbook CROOKED SMILING LIGHT. Of POINT BLANK, the U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo said, these “poems are not pop and flash, rather more like a slow dance with someone you’re going to love forever.” King is a Cave Canem fellow and a MFA graduate of the U of Southern Maine.
