Jazz In The Civil Rights Movement (Baltimore County Public Library) – VIRTUAL

Flutist Galen Abdur-Razzaq chronicles the story of jazz and its relationship with the civil rights movement beginning at the turn of the century and continuing to the present day, highlighting the artists, their music, their influence on jazz and their struggles. Learn the importance of jazz and its advocacy for the civil rights movement and how jazz concerts helped finance major events, such as the Freedom Rides and the March on Washington in 1963. The program is infused with music and features a flute prelude by the presenter. ​

Registration closes one hour before the start of the program. A valid email address is needed at registration to send a Zoom link to the program 30 minutes before scheduled start.
