Art AfterWords – The Autobiography of Malcolm X (DC Public Library) – VIRTUAL

August 10, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

The National Portrait Gallery and the Library would like to invite you to a virtual conversation about public remembrance and the history of Washington, D.C. Join us as we analyze a portrait of Malcolm X, and discuss the related book, The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley.

We will be joined by the Portrait Gallery’s Curator of Photographs Leslie Ureña, and our Instagram Artist-in-Residence, Bradford Grant, as they discuss the exhibition, Block by Block: Naming Washington, which explores the nomenclature of the city’s spaces.

For details on joining the discussion, please register here.

The Portrait Gallery strives to provide programs that are accessible to all visitors. For questions, or to request accommodations such as captioning, please email JonesVE@si.edu at least two weeks in advance of the program.i
